Deep Water Art Space

What a weekend! What a buzz. The grand opening of Deep Water Art Space, a brand new gallery and creative collective at Deepwater Plaza Shopping Centre in Woy Woy.

I’m proud to be one of 20 local artists who’ve come together to bring this space to life. What started as an empty retail shop next to The Reject Shop is now bursting with colour, texture, conversation, and connection. It’s more than a gallery, it’s a living, breathing creative hub for our community.

Opening day was electric. Almost 300 people came through the doors, and the response was beyond anything we could’ve hoped for. We had live portraits being sketched, clay-making in full swing, weaving demonstrations, live music, and most of all—conversations. So many conversations.

People stayed. They explored. They revelled in the excitement .

That was the real magic.

Having volunteered two shifts now. It’s clear there’s a hunger for creativity and connection in Woy Woy. We’ve already had loads of interest in workshops, with people asking, "When's the next one?" "Can I bring my kids?" "Do you do beginners classes?" “Can I exhibit my work too?”

The answer is: Yes. We hear you. And yes, there’s more to come.

We’ve already kicked off Family Friendly Life Drawing on Sundays, at a cost of $20, it is a relaxed and inclusive space for people of all ages to draw and unwind.

Our small-ticket items, like handmade cards and prints, are flying out the door, and the support for local artists has been nothing short of heartwarming.

The customers have thanked us for making art accessible, what is better than finding solace in a shopping centre!
They thanked us for making their world better, even if it’s just for the ten minutes it took to circumnavigate the store.

This is just the beginning.

So if you haven’t yet visited Deep Water Art Space, come on in. Bring your curiosity, your kids–especially the kids and your questions. Whether you want to join a workshop, browse the art, or just soak in some creative energy, we’d love to see you.

Open everyday. 10am-5pm. And until 4pm on the weekends.

Watch this space, and come play.
