So… I’ve joined an artist co-op!
Yep, things just got a little more official around here. I’m now part of Bay Gallery in Ettalong (formerly Art Studios Cooperative) — a proper artist-run space, right near the water, filled with beautiful work and even more beautiful humans.
It’s not just a gallery where I hang my art and cross my fingers — it’s a true cooperative, which means a bunch of artists (like me!) working together to keep the space running. We each volunteer our time (I’ll be on deck about two days a month), share the costs, pay a small membership fee, and take turns exhibiting our work. I’ll have 2 to 3 pieces on the walls each month, so there’ll always be something new to spot when you pop in.
The space itself is pretty special too. The building’s owner, Vanessa, is a genuine patron of the arts — she generously gives us the shopfront, helping make it all possible. Having someone who believes in the power of creativity and community is such a gift!
Joining isn’t as simple as just signing up — there’s an application process when a spot becomes available (usually when someone steps away), and I’m feeling pretty stoked that I’ve been welcomed into the fold along with Carolyn Purtle.
If you’ve been following along, you know how much I love creating art that means something — pieces that make you feel, remember, smile, or sigh. Now I get to share them with real people, in a real gallery.
So if you're ever in Ettalong, located behind the Mantra, come say hi! You might catch me there. I’m so excited for this next chapter — and super grateful to be part of something bigger than me.
Here’s to community, creativity, and the beautiful chaos of art life 💛
Love,
Maz x
